Italian Research Council: Insitute for the Spectroscopy of Nanostructured MaterialsCNR-ISMN - Bologna (Italy)Scientist in Charge: Dr. Michele Muccini We determine the emission properties of the nanostructures, important for signal transmission optimization, as well as their correlation to nanomorphology using multiphoton confocal spectroscopy with sub-100 nm spatial and picosecond temporal resolution. Imaging of the nanostructures is achieved by both surface sensitive topographic techniques (like AFM), and optical techniques like evanescent wave microscopy, which allows 3D optical sectioning of nanostructures with 20-50 nm resolution.
